The Ultimate Guide to Veils: Finding Your Perfect Match

Your wedding veil isn’t just a finishing touch — it’s the final stroke in your bridal portrait. It adds movement, drama, softness, or sparkle. It sets the tone as you walk down the aisle and becomes part of the moment your guests remember (and photograph).

Whether you're after timeless elegance, high-fashion drama, or something soft and modern, this is your ultimate guide to choosing your perfect veil — from length and colour to embellishments and real-life inspiration.

Why Your Veil Matters

Your veil frames your dress, your hair, and your whole bridal moment. It softens structured gowns, balances simple ones, and elevates the entire look — whether you wear it just for the ceremony or keep it on through sunset portraits.

The right veil enhances your gown — without competing with it. That’s why we take the time to get it just right.

Choose Your Colour

The most common veil colours are ivory and white, and we custom-match to your gown when needed. Some brides lean toward soft ivory for warmth and blend, while others opt for bright white to complement crisp lace or modern satin.

Tip: If you're unsure, bring your gown (or a fabric swatch) to your veil fitting. We'll hold veils against it in natural light to find the perfect match.

Other tones (like champagne or blush) are available on request — ideal for coloured gowns or unique looks.

Select Your Fabric

We offer two types of tulle — each with its own personality.

Soft Bridal Tulle
Lightweight and floaty, this is the classic bridal veil material. It moves beautifully in the breeze and layers well. If you want that “soft focus” effect around your face and shoulders, this is for you.

Ellie Tulle
Slightly heavier with a plush, luxurious feel. Great for structured or styled veils (like pearl scatter or embroidered options) that need more hold and definition.

Want something more unique? Ask us about hailspot, chiffon, or lace-topped options — we have samples and suggestions at the ready.

Find the Right Length

Here’s a breakdown of the most popular veil lengths, with suggestions for what they pair best with:

Short to Mid-Length Veils

  1. 25" Shoulder Length – great with tea-length or short dresses

  2. 30" Elbow Length – works beautifully with off-shoulder or detailed bodices

  3. 35" Waist Length – pairs well with ball gowns and cinched waists

  4. 45" Fingertip Length – a universal favourite; suits almost every gown

Long & Flowing Veils

  1. 70" Ankle Length – perfect for column dresses or practical elegance

  2. 80–90" Floor Length – ideal for gowns without a train

  3. 108" Ballet/Waltz Length – adds movement without needing a bustle

  4. 120" Chapel Length – great with small trains; soft, romantic photos

  5. 130–144" Cathedral or Royal Length – the ultimate drama for big entrances

Not sure? Try different lengths on in person — you’ll feel when it’s the one.

Decide on Tiers

Veils can be made in one, two, or even three layers:

Single-Tier Veil

Simple and modern. Falls gently from the comb with no blusher layer. Perfect for sleek gowns or minimal brides.

Double-Tier Veil

Includes a blusher (the front part you can wear over your face). Great for brides who want a traditional lift at the altar or added volume from behind.

Triple-Tier Veil

Bold, playful, and full of volume — especially gorgeous with structured skirts or dramatic entrances.

Want something in between? We can adjust tier lengths, blend fabric weights, and tweak placement to get the silhouette just right.

Pick the Width

Veil width affects how much it drapes and how full it feels behind you.

Full Width

Our most popular option. Flows around your shoulders and creates that cloud-like effect. Great for photos and aisle drama.

Half Width

More streamlined and modern. Ideal for slimmer gowns, outdoor venues, or when you want a little veil without the volume.

You can also request ¾ width or custom cuts depending on your gown shape or preference.

Choose Your Comb

Every veil includes a secure comb — and we offer options to suit your hairstyle and comfort:

  1. Metal combs – secure, discreet, and easy to slide into styled hair

  2. Plastic combs – lighter, great for fine hair or soft styles

  3. Flip combs – reversible and great for changing your look between ceremony and reception

All combs are sewn in by hand for durability and comfort — and we’re happy to show you how to place it securely on the day.

Add Your Style: Embellishment Options

This is where your veil becomes you.

  • Plain – clean, classic, and effortless

  • Glimmer – a subtle shimmer woven into the tulle for a magical finish

  • Scattered Pearls – timeless, soft and elegant

  • Scattered Crystals – a hint of sparkle that catches the light

  • Hailspot Tulle – sweet, dotted texture for something a little different

  • Embroidered Flowers – soft, romantic detailing; ideal for garden weddings

  • Galaxy Crystals or Pearls – bold and modern; thick at the comb, fading out

  • Galaxy Mix – a blend of pearls and crystals for balance and texture

  • Three-Piece Pearls – triple-layered for a fashion-forward finish

  • Mixed Pearl Sizes – customise the scale of your detailing
